CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Monsters are duking it out for the Calder Cup, and fans have a chance to watch two upcoming games on WUAB Channel 43.
The Monsters clinched the North Division Finals Wednesday night with their third win over the Syracuse Crunch.
The team advances to the Eastern Conference Finals, playing the Hershey Bears starting Thursday, May 30 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
WUAB will carry the first two games of the series. Both start at 7 p.m. in Hershey. Game two is Saturday, June 1.
It’s a rematch of the 2016 Calder Cup Finals, when the Monsters beat Hershey in a four-game sweep to bring home their first championship in 52 years.

During that 2016 playoff run, CW43 aired the first two games of the Calder Cup Finals.
“We got two victories and brought it back home and ended up winning Game 3,” Monsters President Mike Ostrowski said. “That was right during the NBA finals when the Cavs and Warriors were playing.”
So safe to say 2016 was a memorable year for sports in the city of Cleveland.
WOIO/WUAB Vice President and General Manager David Hughes said the partnership between the Monsters and CW43 provides a great opportunity for fans to follow along even when the team is on the road.
“It’s a huge series, the first time they’ve gotten this far in the playoffs since 2016 when they won the Calder Cup,” Hughes said. “Fans at home are going to be able to watch every second of the action.”

The audience for these games is there. The Monsters lead the AHL in attendance, averaging over 10,000 fans per game, and so far in the playoffs have averaged over 11,000 in attendance.
“The Monsters following in Cleveland is huge,” Hughes said. “I was at a game earlier this year and there were 14,000 fans there. We’re just so excited to give them the opportunity to watch these games.”
This isn’t the first time this season that the Monsters and CW43 have partnered up, in March WUAB broadcast the Total Solar Eclipse game, and are now back for the most important stretch of games.
“We got amazing feedback from our fans and viewers about the quality of the broadcast” Ostrowski said. “And being able to have great top notch hockey if you can’t get to the games to be able to watch it on free TV will be amazing.”
Tickets are on sale now for the Eastern Conference Finals, with prices as low as just $10.
