CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO/WUAB) - Gray Media’s WUAB is becoming Cleveland’s 43 and launching Cleveland’s first and only 9 p.m. newscast starting Sept. 2 with “First at 9.”

Viewers in Northeast Ohio will be able to catch up on the day’s news and weather one hour earlier weekdays on Channel 43 and on their streaming devices.

The launch of the 9 p.m. news comes with Cleveland 43’s move to MyNetworkTV on Sept. 1. MyNetworkTV programs highly rated shows including Dateline, Law and Order: SVU, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD.

“We’re excited to bring local news and Cleveland’s most accurate forecast to the 9 p.m. hour,” said Brian Sinclair, WOIO/WUAB news director. “Whether you watch on Cleveland’s 43 or stream on 19 News+, this newscast will give you a comprehensive look at the biggest stories of the day and look ahead to what could affect you tomorrow.”

The new primetime newscast, hosted by 19 News’s Tiffani Tucker and 19 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Jason Nicholas, and is designed to not waste the viewer’s time.

“The launch of our 9 p.m. news on Cleveland’s 43 will provide our community with the ability to get up-to-date information on all of the latest breaking news stories, as well as a first look at how the weather will impact their tomorrow with the most accurate weather team in Ohio,” said Nick Hasenecz, WOIO/WUAB acting general manager. “We look forward to introducing our news team to a whole new, underserved audience at 9 p.m. They can watch it over the air or stream it.”
